Good News for WhatsApp Users!

Well, if you are an WhatsApp user, then you would be delighted to know that you've got some happy
news!

Facebook has decided to remove the subscription model from the WhatsApp application from now on. And, those ones who are already on the payment modules, they will also don't have to pay either.

Jan Koum, CEO of WhatsApp, told this at Munich during the DLD Conference. The company would be focusing on ways for people to change information with companies and organisations, which they are interested in.

For example, you could get desired information from a bank, whether the transaction was successful or was legitimate. Another situation would be when you would want to know the arrival or departure of flights or even the trains and whether they are on time or not. If one sees it in context then it could bring many usefull applications in real life. Among some points which the company has highlighted in their blog.

Facebook bought WhatsApp earlier for a whopping amount of approximately $19 billion (which amounts to some £13 billion), last year. It is awesome to note that it used to be a company consisting of only 55 employees.

How to create your own WIFI hotspot on Windows 7

Well, If you are on a wired internet connection and you have some other devices, you need on the internet, then one would really like to have an ad hoc wireless connection, isn’t it? There are many ways to add the capability onto the computer depending on the hardware configuration and the software properties. And in Windows it’s a bit easier to set up a WIFI hotspot for the convenience as you can see below.

Suppose, you want to share the internet from your computer A to your other computer B. You will need to see that these conditions are met:
  •         You are connected to internet on computer A through Ethernet Wire or a Modem (it can be of any type, like a USB internet connector).
  •              For this tutorial, you must be running Window 7, but will work on any Windows OS, after the XP- OS.
  •      For hardware configuration, a WIFI Network Card is the minimum requirement.

After these pre-requisites are met, you are ready to start creating your own WIFI Hotspot.

So, first of all:

Go to Manage wireless networks by on computer A:

Either of these two ways is good.
  •   Going to the notification panel and click the WIFI button, then click the Open Network and   Sharing Center, then on the left side of the window, click on the Manage wireless networks.
  •  Going to the Start Menu, and on the search bar, type Manage wireless networks.

Create an ad hoc network

Then you will see a window asking you how you would like to add a network, click on the Create an ad hoc network, then on the new window give your network a name of your liking and the password too. You need to save this network if you are going to use it again. Let the security type remain on the default format i.e. WPA2-Personal.

Checking your network

Now the network is ready to work. But before that and to be sure check the notification on the Taskbar for the wireless button/icon. You will see “Waiting for users” notification on computer A. After this check the client computer B, for the available networks. Click connect on the network name which you just created and when you check back on the Host computer A, to see it is connected.

Wireless Network Connection Properties

Now, go to the computer A, right-click on the network you created, properties window will open then click the Sharing tab. You will see, “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection’, select it. The other selection is optional. And click OK.

You are all set to use your WIFI Hotspot. Congrats!

What do you think of your new WIFI Hotspot?

Do you want to 3D print a house?

World's first 3D printed castle by Andrey Rudenko

3D printing entails that anything that is printed in a three dimensional product, can be any physical object one can imagine. In the same way as a normal printer prints on paper, 3D printing also prints on a layer by layer process when completed creates an actual product.

With 3D printing you can create whatever you can imagine. Any physical object can be created in this manner. Heck people are even printing houses with these machines. You can create complex designs that otherwise would not be possible. All, just through a desktop computer and the printer.

3D printing has been used in the industrial manufacturing process since long before we heard of 3D printing. Most the products that you see in the market has been through some or the other way of 3D prototyping. But now you can create your own product and bring to the market in a much faster pace. Because now we have machines much portable and efficient. Makerbot is one such company which has pioneered in bringing the industrial process which was only in the reach of large corporations to the reach of the masses. It has developed the process into such an advanced mode that even people like you and me, can bring our  imagination to reality, all we need is a desktop and a 3D printer. And, now there are a lot of options, which you can find all on google.

And now, the technology has shown its usefulness and become popular in a wide array of areas, from decorative designing to automotive designing. This technology has also been used even in bio-medical field. And lets’ not forget the best part, the personal printing.

These machines, for personal printing can range anywhere from $1000 to $7000 and upwards.

You can think of a product and design and make a prototype and send it to the market and get the sentiments of customers very fast, saving you lots of valuable time and money. If, you are thinking of creating your own product. It’s amazing that how easy and streamlined the process has become. Here, you can watch the printer in action. And, here, you can see some of the awesome designs you can create.

So, what are you imagining of printing? I’m thinking of printing a hard disk platform, something like a easy to open folding box, for my old used ones.

How to take care of your mobile phone battery

Do you own a mobile phone? if yes, then I bet you love your small gadget. You would have probably given a lot of thought about how to keep it safe and sound. Even when buying a cover, you  must have checked out tens of pieces, right? But, have you ever thought about the battery that does the heavy lifting? If your answer is no, then don’t worry because more than 30% of people never do.

You must have heard the phrase, “batteries have a memory, you have to charge it to it’s fullest and discharge to zero and repeat”. Well, don’t! Because, this used to be true for the old nickel based batteries but now most of the manufacturer’s batteries are based on Li-ion, for which the phrase doesn’t hold true.

So, how to know whether your battery is nickel based or Li-ion, look at the back of your battery.

·         So, Li-ion based batteries can be charged full and discharged but it doesn’t have memory effect and it’s not advised to do so either. You should keep your charge between 90-40 percent and never go to zero charge.

·          Do not expose your device to high heat for prolonged periods, as Li-ion batteries doesn’t keep well in high heat, like during a hot day inside a car.

Li-ion batteries do well when charged and discharged at a slow pace. So, avoid fast charging whenever you can and for that you can use a low voltage charger.
